Welcome to this week’s Market Report. You probably don’t want to hear it but Christmas is just seven weeks away and with that in mind we have a variety of nuts to help get you in the festive mood.

Starting with Vegetables

In the next couple of weeks UK Broccoli will be ending and we are moving to Spanish varieties which are the same price but better quality, however UK Courgettes have already finished and we are now buying from Spain. UK Sprouts are in full swing and have come down in price as have Jerusalem Artichokes. Finally, Lotus Root is available again.


This week  Best Buys include: UK Cauliflower, English Savoy, English Spring Onions, UK Parsnips and Leeks.


Moving onto Fruits


Oranges have come down in price due to increased availability and the first of the Leafy Clementine’s have arrived. Cape Peaches and Nectarines are also more readily available but Lemons from the same region are coming to an end and our stock is now coming from Spain. Turkish Figs and European Grapes are also finishing and both will soon be coming from Brazil. This may see an increase in price but the quality will be much better. UK Braeburn, Royal Gala, Russet and Jonagold apples are all now in full swing. Lastly Lychee, Passion fruit and Pomegranate puree’s are all back in stock and we should also have Coconut flavour by the end of the week.

Salads:

Lollo Rosso, Lollo Bionde and Oakleaf Lettuce are all moving from UK varieties to French and UK baby Spinach and English Iceberg will soon be replaced by Spanish which will be slightly more expensive but better quality. To finish, Dutch salad tomatoes have come to an end and we have moved to Spanish, Moroccan and Canary varieties.


This week the Best Buys include all Radicchio, UK Watercress, UK Chinese Leaf & Spanish Little Gem.
