Welcome to this week’s Market Report.
As I’m sure you are all aware the weather has been unseasonably warm recently and this has resulted in some changes to the produce available on the market.


Starting with Vegetables

Cauliflower is now more readily available and as a result has dropped in price. UK Pumpkins of all sizes are arriving now and squashes including Spaghetti, Onion and Harlequin are now in full swing. 

AVOCADO PEAR

This week  Best Buys include: Broccoli, Savoy Cabbage, Courgette, Leek and Parsnip.


Moving onto Fruits;

the warm weather has seen more Limes arrive on the market and their price has been pushed down accordingly but UK Plums have now finished and we are stocking Italian grown varieties.

Sharon Fruit is back in season as are Comice Pears.

However, Blueberries are set to increase in price as the European season comes to an end and we move towards the North American crop.

In the next couple of weeks we will start supplying Brazilian Watermelons and Grapes this will mean better quality although their price may increase slightly.

Finally, we are now buying South African Oranges which are more expensive but much better quality.

SHARON FRUIT

This week the Best Buys include: Figs, Kiwi, UK Apples, Raspberries and Red Plums

Salads:
Recently Italian Roquette has been in short supply and poor quality so we would recommend the UK variety as this is better value for money.

Lotus Root remains unavailable due to quality issues and we only have French Frisse Lettuce in stock for the same reason.

Lastly, some good news, Peppers and salad Tomatoes have come down in price as the first of the Dutch season starts to arrive and the cost of Avocado Pears has also been reduced

This week the Best Buys include all Iceberg Lettuce, Cos Lettuce, Little Gems, Chinese Leaves and UK Roquette.
